The Fisher M-96 Valve, Pedestal and Box Locator is
specifically designed for finding buried or paved-over valves, boxes
or vaults. It also locates buried survey markers, wa ter or gas
meters, conduit, manholes and other metal ob- jects. These objects
can be made of aluminum, brass, copper, iron, lead, nickel, steel,
tin or any metal.
With only two knobs and a pushbutton, the Fisher M-96 is easy to
use. The M-96 also accepts a larger, optional 11-inch diameter search
coil for deeper ground penetration and wider scan. Part #12036227
An optional soft, padded, vinyl carrying bag keeps the M-96 free
of dust and dirt. Part #103693 For the ultimate in protection and
convenience, an optional hard-shell carrying case with foam padding
keeps the M-96 safe and sound. Part #202767.
The M-96 incorporates features not found in any other valve, pedestal
and box locator. Pushbutton tuning makes for quick and easy maintenance
of the meter level and the "threshold" level of the sound. The "threshold"
level is a low tone heard during normal operation when the M-96
is correctly tuned to existing ground and temperature conditions.
Pushbutton tuning allows the operator to "detune" the- M-96 for
pinpointing the location of buried or covered metallic objects.
The NORMAL MODE provides adequate sensitivity when searching for
larger objects, such as manhole covers, valve boxes and pedestals.
While in the NORMAL MODE the M-96 is not distracted by smaller metallic
items, such as tin foil or other metalic trash.
Special Auto-Tune circuitry provides a continual, but very gradual,
retuning of the M-96 operating frequency to counteract any drift
caused by temperature and humidity changes.
