BATTERIES

GISCO has rechargable batteries and battery packs for your geophysical instruments.

Most geophysical instruments use batteries since they are normally used outdoors far from any other source of power. Everything from a thousand channel Input/Output distributed seismic recorder to hand held magnetometers run on batteries, usually rechargable. When the batteries stop working, and they will, you stop working.

Instrument manufacturers use hundreds of different size battery packs, many proprietary. But, there are only a few manufacturers and a couple of dozen sizes of individual cells inside those packs. GISCO has the cells and in most cases we can put them in your old battery packs making them like new at a much lower cost than a new pack from the instrument manufacturer.

GISCO also makes our own brand of battery packs including high voltage DC packs for resistivity meters. Every GISCO pack has cells that you can replace yourself!

Here is a list of some of the battery packs and battery upgrades available from GISCO. Please check back often as we will be adding many more items to the list very soon.

BISON Model 2350 Earth Resistivity meter battery upgrade
The Bison Instruments 2350 resistivity meter is one of the most common models in use. Many are 20 years old or more and still going strong. BUT they were designed to use mercury batteries and high voltage "B" batteries that are no longer available.

The GISCO 2350 battery upgrade modifies the instrument to operate on common alkaline 9V transistor radio batteries that are easily installed and
available everywhere.

The GISCO upgrade modifies the 2350 chassis and adds two circut boards. A full set of new alkaline battteries is included as is a complete test and calibration of the instrument. The new batteries have more power than the origional type and last most users for more than a year of use.
When the batteries finally run down just go to the local store and buy 9V transistor radio batteries and install them yourself. Keep those old Bisons running!
