The history of GISCO - Geophysical Instrument Supply Co.
Information about the giscogeo.com website

Al Danish (1995 photo)
GISCO - (Geophysical Instrument Supply Co.) was started by Al Danish in April 1952 in Denver, Colorado. During the uranium boom he marketed radiation detection instruments and field supplies to geologists and general prospectors.

Over the years the product line was expanded and GISCO established a world wide reputation as a single-stop source for almost any geophysical instrument and geological field or a lab item. The GISCO catalog became a standard on the bookshelves of geologists and geophysicists all over the world.
Regrettably Al Danish passed away in 1996 and GISCO was eventually sold and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota USA.

Today, with the help of the power of the internet, GISCO has grown larger then ever with many new manufacturers and products, some of them our own design. We still get requests for products from GISCO catalogs printed twenty years ago, and in most cases we can still fill those requests. From those first uranium prospectors with their Geiger counters purchased from GISCO to oil exploration crews using thousand channel distributed seismic recorders from DMT, GISCO is there with sales, service, lease, and rental options for all your instrument needs.

A letter from our president Nick Jermihov:

You will appreciate her patience and professional demeanor. Dr. Daryl Tweeton provides technical sales support and will assist you in selecting suitable equipment. Our product knowledge and close working relationship with many manufacturers was developed to meet the needs of professional, academic and government communities. With our technical experience we provide a capability of integration of instruments and technologies. In fact, we are able to design and develop instruments for specific situations. Finding answers to questions has been a key to our success and we welcome requests to locate items not listed in our catalogs or Web Site. We look forward to working with you.
